1 John 2:1
My little children, I am writing these things to you that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

John says he writes these things so that we may not sin. He writes that if we have fellowship with Him and still sin, we lie and do not walk in the truth 1 John 1:5-6). John then says that if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Yeshua Messiah the righteous. The Greek word for "Advocate" is paraklaytos:G3875. That word is only used four other times in Scripture and is used as a descriptor of the Spirit of the Father John 14:16). John is saying that we have "Helpers" in the Breath and Word of the Father.

1 John 2:2
and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.

The Greek term for "propitiation" is hilasmos and it means "appeasement." It is only used one other time and John uses it again in John 4:10.

John 4:10 Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Yeshua Messiah is the appeasement to the Father for our sins. Why is He the appeasement of the Father for our sins? Because there is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood.

Lev. 17:11 ‘For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’

John says that Yeshua is the appeasement for the sins of the whole world. The term does not mean that all mens sins are appeased. He is speaking of those who trust (believe) the Father in obedience.

John 5:21-25 “For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22“For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, 23in order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. 24“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25“Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear shall live.

1 John 2 - John says he writes these things so that we may not sin. He writes that if we have fellowship with Him and still sin, we lie and do not walk in the truth.

1 John 1:5-6 And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;
