Now that the price of gold is setting new all time highs, and the price of silver is threatening to break out as well, it is perhaps a good time to remind ourselves of the original silver stackers, who tried to initiate the first silver short squeeze. Back in the 1970's, the Hunt brothers became notorious for cornering the silver market and driving its price as high as $50 an ounce in early 1980. But were they truly responsible for the move, or was it bound to happen anyway, due to the rampant inflation which existed at the time? Were the Hunt brothers unjustly maligned by the media and dragged through the courts for no fault of their own? In this fascinating interview we recount the events that led to the epic silver squeeze of 1979.
