Fall on the Sun - (Full Score)

"Fall on the Sun" is the final movement of what will be my first Narrative Suite, "Stardust to Ashes". The story of the piece is to be discerned through the music itself alongside the context clues across the movements of this Suite. It is written for two Alto Saxophones, Grand Piano and Wind Reservoir Pipe Organ. It requires extended techniques such as vocalized multiphonics, microtones, altissimo, scoops and turning off the organ while it is playing.

This was my very first composition that I wrote back during the Christmas break of my second year of university. Prior to this I had no intentions of being a musician professionally and was taking a music degree as a fun way to gain entry into Architecture as I needed any Bachelor's degree to enter. At the time I was finding my Tonal and Aural studies to be almost completely counterproductive and musically suffocating due to their perfunctory reliance on arbitrary musical laws with no rationalization or justification beyond the fact that they were traditional and therefore optimal. I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to write music completely intuitively with no restrictions and a crude version of "Fall on the Sun" was produced after a few evenings.
