DEALING WITH THIN-SKINNED WHINY-ASSED PEOPLE

HOW THIN-SKINNED CAN YOU GET?
Maybe you know someone who is chronically and acutely thin-skinned.

#1. I made a phone call to a “Kevin” I know, and he could hardly hear me. I could hear him just fine. Such is life with mobile telephony.

#2. I said, “Let’s hang up and I’ll call you back.” I did so and his phone rang for the longest time before he picked up.

#3. I could hear muffled sound from his phone and that’s when I made the first mistake when dealing with a “Kevin” person.

#4. I said, “I think there’s something wrong with you phone.” Big mistake!

#5. He said, “What’s wrong with my phone? Why isn’t it your phone instead?” He had gone on the defensive.

#6. I didn’t know what to say at first, but since I had already pissed him off by insinuating that his phone was other than perfect, what the hell is this?

#7. “Well,” I said, “I phoned and spoke with someone else right before you and we had no problem at all.” I could feel his tension on the other end.

#8. He went into a diatribe accusing me of finding fault with everything he said, owned, or did. As baseless as this was, it was still typical of “Kevin” with his extremely thin skin.

#9. On another occasion, Kevin told me about his daughter’s Tae Kwon Do lessons and he mentioned what an ancient martial art it was. He asked for my opinion.

#10. Aware of being ‘set up’, I said, “That’s nice.” Convinced that I had condescended to him, and he pressed me on the subject.

#11. “Okay, if you insist.” I answered, “Tai Kwon Do” means “the way of fighting with fists and feet.” I continued, “It is not a martial art nor is it ancient. It was developed by General Chui Hong-hi of the Korean Army in 1964. I don’t think we can call 1964 ancient, since I lived through the sixties.”

#12. That did it! Kevin hung up and wouldn’t talk to me for over a week.

#13. This whiney-ass had a mad-on because it became apparent to him that his daughter had not invested in an ancient martial art and that there was no ancient wisdom to be gleaned from it.

#14. Worse yet is what I told him and, upon his own research [Wikipedia for God’s sake] he discovered that I was right.

#15. Thinking that nothing of them is the best, and that they don’t possess the wisdom and knowledge of the ages, it will kill the thin-skinned “Kevin”.

#16. They are just like us with a single difference, “We’re not thin-skinned (sensitive) Kevin.”

Watch out for the Kevins among you. They will only drag you down into their own superficial mediocrity.
