Short Horror Story: UNLOCKED 🔓

Late at night, Aarav is home alone in his small apartment. As he’s about to go to bed, he checks the front door—it’s locked. He turns off the lights and lies down.

Moments later, he hears a soft click from the living room. He brushes it off as his old window creaking.

But then, his phone buzzes with a notification:
📱 “Front door: Unlocked.”

He freezes. His apartment has a smart lock system, which he hasn’t touched. He slowly creeps toward the door. It’s wide open.

Heart pounding, Aarav slams the door shut and locks it again. He checks the security app:
📱 “No activity detected.”

Relieved, he turns back to his room. That’s when he notices muddy footprints on the floor—leading away from the door and into his bedroom.

He rushes in, but no one is there. The closet door creaks slightly. Trembling, he slowly opens it. Nothing.

Just as he exhales, his phone buzzes again.
📱 “Back door: Unlocked.”

But Aarav doesn’t have a back door.
