Galatians 2:11-21

The apostle Paul had just returned to Antioch after a successful meeting with the Church leaders in Jerusalem. There was unanimous agreement that Paul's gospel, the gospel of grace, was indeed the true gospel. To add anything to this gospel as a requirement for salvation would not be tolerated. Some time later, Cephas (Peter) comes to Antioch to visit. Everything is fine until some of the party of the circumcision (Judaizers) arrive and out of fear, Peter withdraws from fellowship with Gentile believers. According to Paul, this hypocritical act caused even Barnabas and other Jews to follow after Peter. The result was that the Gentile believers were being pressured to live like Jews (follow the Law). Paul confronts Peter to his face, calling out his hypocrisy and giving a clear defense against such behavior.
