Mass Reading Reflection for Saturday, March 29, 2025

Third Week of Lent (Year B) are Hosea 6:1-6 (first reading), Psalm 51:3-4, 18-21ab, and Luke 18:9-14 (Gospel)

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel unveils the Pharisee and tax collector—pride prays loud, but humility kneels low. Bishop Sheen warned, ‘Self-righteousness is a mirror that blinds.’ Hosea cries, ‘Let us return to Thee, O Lord,’ for Thy love desires mercy, not empty rites. St. Charbel, contrite in his cell, bids you bow your heart today like the sinner. The Lord Say-ith, ‘The humble shall be exalted’—your brokenness is His delight. This Lent, confess your need for Him, for Thou, O Lord, liftest the lowly to Thy side. Stand not on your merits, but kneel in His grace, and rise justified.”
