Stephen M. Vantassel, host of the Wildlife Control Consultant podcast, interviews Susan Holroyd, Conservation Outreach Coordinator at the Alberta Community Bat Program with Wildlife Conservation Society, Canada. She spearheaded the development of an online training for wildlife control professionals who help people with bat problems. The training is available at https://training.canadabats.org and for next year will be offered at no charge. With bats under great pressure due to white-nose syndrome, vertebrate pest control operators need to know how to handle bats responsibly so as not add further injury to the order Chiroptera. Susan explains that the training covers, biology, Canadian laws, bat handling, bat exclusion, bat houses, and client education. Entire training takes about 6-8 hours depending on your learning speed.
