New Zealand beat Pakistan by 73 runs in the 1st ODI

Pakistan Tour of New Zealand 2025:-The 1st Match of 3 Match ODI series was played between New Zealand and Pakistan at Mclean Park Napier New Zealand on 29th March, 2025. In this match New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 73 runs.In this match Pakistan Captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and opted to bowl first.
New Zealand while batting first batted superbly and scored 344 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs and gave target of 345 runs to Pakistan to win.In reply Pakistan were all out at paltry score of 271 runs in 44.1 overs and lost the match by 73 runs.
New Zealand while batting first started poorly and were 33 for 2 in 8.2 overs. Will Young was first to go caught by Salman Ali Agha of the bowling of Naseem Shah after scoring one run only from 11 balls. Then other opener Nick Kelly was bold by Akif Javed who scored 15 runs.
Henry Nicholls 11 runs was caught by Babar Azam of the bowling of Akif Javed.Mark Chapman top scored with brilliant 132 runs from 111 balls hitting 13 fours and 6 sixes and added 199 runs from 174 balls for the fourth wicket with Daryl Mitchell who made well compiled 76 runs from 84 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes.
Mitchell Hay went without scoring and Michael Bracewell contributed 9 runs only. Debutant Muhammad Abbas scored quickfire 52 runs from 26 balls hitting 3 fours and 3 sixes and was out on the last ball of the match caught by Babar Azam of the bowling of Mohammad Ali.Jacob Duffy remained not out on 3 runs.
Debutant Irfan Khan took 3 wickets. Two wickets were taken by Haris Rauf and Akif Javed and one wicket each went to Naseem Shah and Mohammad Ali. New Zealand scored 344 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs.
Pakistan while Chasing huge target of 345 runs to win failed miserably and were bundled out at 271 runs only in 44.1 overs. Pakistan started well and their openers Abdullah Shafique and Usman Khan added 83 runs in 12.4 overs.
Nathan Smith took the first wicket of Usman Khan caught by Jacob Duffy who scored 39 runs from 33 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Abdullah Sahfique was next to go caught by Daryl Mitchell of the the bowling of Michael Bracewell after scoring 36 runs from 49 balls hitting 5 fours and 1 six.
Then Captain Mohammad Rizwan was out after scoring 30 runs caught by Mitchell Hay of the bowling of Muhammad Abbas. Then Babar Azam with Salman Ali Agha added 85 runs from 59 balls for the fourth wicket , but William ORouke removed Babar Azam caught by Daryl Mitchell after scoring well complied 78 runs from 83 balls hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes.
After this wicket Pakistan lost the wickets at regular intervals and lost the match by huge margin of 73 runs. Salman Ali Agha scored 58 runs from 48 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. Tayyab Tahir contributed one run and no other batsmen could reach to double score. Pakistan lost the match by 73 runs and are now trailing behind 1-0 in the series. Mark Chapman was adjudged the Player of the Match.
