Calvinism - Contradictory Psychopathic Nonsense
There is strong evidence that John Calvin deliberately lured Michael Servetus to Geneva, knowing it would lead to his arrest and execution. If true, this makes Calvin’s actions even more psychopathic—because it wasn’t just a reactionary act of cruelty, but a calculated trap designed to ensure Servetus’ destruction.
How Calvin Likely Tricked Servetus Into Coming to Geneva
1. Calvin and Servetus Had a Long Correspondence
o Servetus and Calvin had been debating through letters for years.
o Servetus challenged Calvin’s doctrine directly, criticizing his views on the Trinity, predestination, and infant baptism.
o Calvin was infuriated and vowed in a letter to Guillaume Farel:
“If he [Servetus] comes to Geneva, I shall never let him depart alive if my authority has weight.”
2. Servetus Was Already Wanted by the Catholic Church
o Before Geneva, Servetus had been arrested and sentenced to death by the Roman Catholic Inquisition in France.
o He escaped from prison and went into hiding.
o He had very few places to go.
3. Someone Informed Servetus That He Could Seek Refuge in Geneva
o Calvinists claim that Servetus came to Geneva on his own by accident, but this doesn’t make sense.
o Geneva was the last place he should have gone—it was a theocracy ruled by Calvin.
o Did someone give him false assurances that he would be safe there?
4. Servetus Was Arrested Almost Immediately Upon Arrival
o He only stayed in Geneva for one day before being arrested.
o Someone tipped off the authorities the moment he arrived.
o Who would have known and cared enough to immediately turn him in?
o The evidence strongly suggests that Calvin was expecting him.
5. Calvin Provided the Catholic Inquisition With Evidence Against Servetus
o Before Geneva, the Catholic Inquisition was hunting Servetus.
o They didn’t have enough evidence to convict him—until Calvin personally gave them letters Servetus had sent him.
o Calvin was so obsessed with destroying Servetus that he even worked with the Catholic Church to bring him down.
o This is beyond psychopathic—he claimed to be a Reformer, but he handed over a fellow Reformer to Catholic authorities.
6. Calvin Refused to Let Servetus Leave Geneva
o If Servetus had entered Geneva “accidentally,” Calvin could have let him flee.
o Instead, Calvin personally led the charge for his execution.
o He didn’t just want Servetus gone—he wanted him to suffer.
