The Chase (1946) [Better Quality Re-Upload]

Based on Cornell Woolrich’s novel The Black Path of Fear, the film follows down-on-his-luck veteran Chuck Scott (Robert Cummings), who takes a job as a chauffeur for a sadistic Miami gangster (Steve Cochran). When he falls for the gangster’s tormented wife (Michèle Morgan), they attempt to escape to Havana—but their plans spiral into a surreal nightmare of betrayal, mistaken identity, and eerie twists.
