Paul tells Timothy to "lay hold on eternal life."
Wasn't Timothy saved and already had eternal life? So what did Paul mean?
Paul tells Timothy how to minister to servants, troublemakers, and the rich.
Then he puts his doctrine from Christ into Timothy's trust and commands him to keep it pure, without any changes.
Paul repeatedly told Timothy "teach no other doctrine" than Paul's from Christ.
Who are the troublemakers?
They are the ones that are "desiring to be teachers of the law" (1 Tim. 1:7).
Preaching that physical circumcision is necessary for the body of Christ is an example of this error.
At the Jerusalem conference Peter understood not only Paul's gospel and the mystery, but that his group was on hold so God could form the body of Christ, His heavenly group.
Just as the followers of Peter in Christ's earthly ministry persecuted Paul's followers in the past, so it is today for the wrong dividers persecute those in Christ's heavenly ministry.
At the conference it was also agreed that the Gentiles in the body of Christ do not need to be physically circumcised.
Our circumcision is spiritual.
