Macron announced his intention to send “deterrent forces” to Ukraine, despite Russia’s position.

The mission will be led by Britain.

“The military will cover the sea, air and land areas and will be part of a broader security package. It is not up to Russia to decide whether there will be deterrent forces in Ukraine. From next week, our diplomatic advisers will monitor the implementation of the decisions taken today,” Macron said after a meeting with European leaders.

He did not specify how the mission would operate or for what reasons it would enter Ukraine.

“These will be forces from several states, since there is no unanimity on this issue, present in predetermined strategic places with the Ukrainians and they will have a deterrent effect against possible Russian aggression,” the French president said.

And within three weeks, European countries will prepare their proposal for observing the ceasefire in Ukraine.

Also, according to him, Britain and France will send a delegation of their military personnel to Ukraine to develop a program for reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
