"Krishan Kichha" - Film Synopsis
Story:
Based on a story by Jahangir Hossain, adapted for the screen by Gautam Kumar, with a screenplay and direction by Jasim Uddin Imon, Krishan Kichha is a rural-themed film. The story revolves around Akash, an educated young man who leaves behind his luxurious city life to reconnect with his roots.
Characters:
• MD RUHUL AMIN (Akash): The central character, a highly educated young man who returns to his village, drawn by his roots.
• Duke Asad (Safi Khan): Akash’s ambitious father, concerned about his son’s future.
• Shiuli Majumdar (Kohinoor Begum): Akash’s affectionate mother, who wishes for her son's happiness.
• Bithi (Parul Akhter): Akash’s cousin, simple and accustomed to rural life.

Plot Summary:
After completing his studies in London, Akash returns to his village. His father, Safi Khan, hopes he will settle abroad and build a successful career, but Akash longs to stay in the village under his mother’s care and live a life as a farmer. He informs his parents that he wants to marry Rabeya, but she cannot accept a simple village life and breaks off their relationship.
Determined to embrace his roots, Akash integrates with the local farmers, understanding their struggles and way of life. He leads them in cultivating an abandoned land using modern agricultural techniques, yielding a bountiful harvest. His success inspires the village farmers.
Akash’s mother, Kohinoor Begum, wishes for him to marry Parul, but he is unable to forget Julie. During the harvest season, Julie unexpectedly returns to the village. Seeing Akash’s success, she realizes her mistake and wants to reunite with him.
In the final scene, Julie, Akash, his mother, and the farmers celebrate. Parul sheds tears as the farmers watch in astonishment.

As a filmmaker, I have always been drawn to stories that explore the deep emotional ties between individuals and their roots. Krishan Kichha is a reflection of that fascination—an intimate portrayal of a young man's journey back to his origins, where he rediscovers purpose, love, and identity.
In today’s fast-moving world, where urbanization and globalization often dictate success, I wanted to tell a story that challenges this notion. Akash, our protagonist, represents many young dreamers who leave their homeland in pursuit of prosperity, only to realize that true fulfillment lies within the simplicity of their own culture and heritage. His struggle between modern aspirations and traditional values is a universal conflict, one that resonates with countless individuals across generations.
Through Krishan Kichha, I aimed to capture the essence of rural Bangladesh—its landscapes, its people, and their resilience. The film is not just about agriculture; it is about nurturing human relationships, understanding one’s responsibilities, and redefining the meaning of success. Akash’s journey symbolizes a return to authenticity, where love, family, and community triumph over material desires.
Visually, I wanted to contrast the stark differences between the city and the village, using cinematography to highlight the warmth of rural life against the cold detachment of urban luxury. The soundscape is filled with the rhythms of nature, the voices of hardworking farmers, and the silent yet powerful emotions of longing and belonging.
At its core, Krishan Kichha
is a story about identity and self-discovery. It is an ode to the land that nurtures us, the people who shape us, and the values that define us. Through this film, I hope to inspire audiences to reflect on their own connections to their roots and find meaning in the simplicity of life.
