EQUALITY UNDER THE LAW? NOT ON YOUR LIFE! NOT IN THE U.S.A.

AN UNACCEPTABLE DOUBLE-STANDARD
Professional athletes are protected by fickle prosecutors.
Joe Lunchbox goes straight to jail.

#1. Why is it when a fight breaks out at a baseball, football, basketball, or hockey game nobody goes to jail?

#2. It’s easy to see why … and that really sucks.

#3. The problem is our ‘hero worship’ of professional athletes.

#4. At a basketball game one player knocks another down. Accidents happen all the time.

#5. In this case, the ‘knocking down’ of another player turned into a fistfight because the guy who got knocked on his ass made it personal.

#6. He got up, grabbed the other player, and the melee began.

#7. Others joined in and it ended quickly enough.

#8. But here is the rub. Here’s the problem:

#9. Why doesn’t anybody go to jail?

#10. If one of us slugs [you or me] someone and starts a fight, we will be arrested.

#11. In the downtown, we go for booking, arraignment, and charges. It’s the hoosegow for you or me … but never a professional athlete.

#12 It’s the same with any criminal charges, ‘they’ get away with it but we don’t dare. I’d sure like to live in a country where there is ‘equal justice’ under the law.
