From Ritual to Renewal
As we progress deeper into Lent, Holy Mother Church calls us to renew our faith, strengthen our trust in God, and purify our hearts. Today’s readings challenge us to examine our spiritual fidelity and obedience to God’s law.

Epistle: Jeremiah 7:1-7 (A Call to True Obedience)
"Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Make your ways and your doings good: and I will dwell with you in this place. Trust not in lying words, saying: The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord it is. For if you thoroughly amend your ways, and your doings: if you execute judgment between a man and his neighbor, if you oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, and walk not after strange gods to your own hurt, then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land which I gave to your fathers forever and ever."
Reflection:
• The prophet Jeremiah warns the people that their external observance of religious rituals is meaningless if their hearts remain far from God.
• The phrase "Trust not in lying words" reminds us that faith is not just about going through the motions true religion is about living in obedience to God’s law.
• Key Lesson: Our Lenten observances fasting, almsgiving, and prayer must be accompanied by a true interior conversion, or they risk becoming empty rituals.

Gospel: Luke 4:38-44 (Jesus Heals and Preaches the Kingdom of God)
"And rising up out of the synagogue, He went into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever, and they besought Him for her. And standing over her, He commanded the fever, and it left her. And immediately rising, she ministered to them."
Reflection:
• This Gospel passage highlights Christ’s power to heal, both physically and spiritually.
• The healing of St. Peter’s mother-in-law is a reminder that when Christ heals us, we are called to serve Him her immediate response was to rise and serve.
• Jesus then casts out demons, showing that His mission is not just to cure bodily ailments but to free us from the bondage of sin and the devil.
• Key Lesson: Have we allowed Christ to heal us spiritually? Do we respond by serving Him in gratitude, or do we take His grace for granted?

Traditional Saints & Feast Days (March 27, 2025)
1. St. Rupert of Salzburg (†710, Bishop & Missionary)
• A missionary bishop who evangelized Bavaria and Austria, converting many to the faith.
• He established monasteries, which became centers of learning, worship, and charity.
• Key Lesson: Like St. Rupert, we are called to be missionaries, spreading the faith by both word and example.

Conclusionary Prayer
"O Lord, grant us the grace to worship Thee in spirit and in truth. Let not our religion be mere words and rituals, but a true conversion of heart. Through the intercession of St. John of Egypt, may we seek silence and prayer, and through St. Rupert, may we become true missionaries of Thy Gospel. Heal us from all spiritual infirmities, that we may serve Thee with zeal. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."
