Team Profiles: Set G Episode 9 | Garchomp
Episode 9 of Team Profiles: Set G will be about Garchomp.
Garchomp was introduced in Generation 4 as the pseudo-legendary for the generation. Generation 4 was not a very impactful generation for competitive Pokemon besides the release of powerful items and the Attack/Special Attack split, and Garchomp's impact on VGC is no different.
Garchomp belongs to the "beginner" class of Meta Pokemon, Pokemon generally with linear, easily counterable strategies. Garchomp is designed to be a carry, but it is a mediocre carry at best. Given its support parts picked apart, Garchomp can do very little.
If you're not seeing a lot of success with Garchomp, it's not because you're not good at the game or are unlucky. It's generally because Garchomp really requires the stars to align to thrive.
Garchomp is a great way to teach VGC, but besides that, shouldn't be taken seriously as a top VGC archetype.
Thank you for listening and I hope you continue to support my work..
