How "To Dye For" is Driving Change in Food Safety

Brandon and Whitney Cawood, first-time filmmakers and creators of “To Dye For: The Documentary,” are focused on using the film as a powerful tool to drive change. While they hope for a broad platform like Netflix or Hulu, their immediate goal is to ensure the documentary reaches those who might not typically pay to see it, such as school systems and community centers. They are actively engaging with lawmakers to push for state-level legislation, like the upcoming bill in West Virginia aiming to ban synthetic dyes. Their broader vision includes advocating for safer food for all children, particularly those from low-income backgrounds with limited access to healthier options. Although currently laser-focused on dyes to make tangible policy progress, they are open to exploring other food safety issues in the future. Ultimately, they hope this project might evolve into a full-time endeavor, allowing them to continue advocating for children’s health and safer food standards.
