Team Profiles: Set G Episode 8 | Metagross

Episode 8 of Team Profiles: Set G will be about Metagross.

Metagross was introduced in Generation 3 as the pseudo-legendary for the generation. I would argue that Metagross was a very well designed Pokemon for the generation, given its identity as the pseudo-legendary. Given its typing of Steel/Psychic, arguably the best defensive and offensive typing respectively, and it's 600 BST (base stat total), Metagross left little to be desired. You couldn't lower its stats because of its ability Clear Body, and there were very few Pokemon who could stand toe to toe against it.

This, however, has been largely overlooked by VGC players in recent formats. And the irony is, Metagross is the bread and butter of the format!

There have been cries to opt out of playing styles to counter some of the meta that has been surfacing from Scarlet and Violet VGC, and due to all the work being left on the players' hands due to nothing like patch notes, these cries have fallen upon deaf ears because winning players don't need to change their playstyles if they keeping working. Metagross is the answer to all of that.

Metagross offers a level of variance that is unmatched by any Pokemon available in Scarlet and Violet VGC.

Thank you for listening and I hope you continue to support my work.
