Jakes Creek Trail at Elkmont - History and Nature Collide in the Great Smoky Mountains

Not too long ago, I watched Will and Dawn at @yankeeinthesouth do a quick walkthrough of the cabin ruins along Jakes Creek Trail in the Elkmont / Daisytown section of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and with a short trip on the horizon, I KNEW I had to add this to our agenda!

I'm not sure if it was the warm sun coupled with the cool breeze, or the living history all around us, but this place had a peaceful energy that just resonated inside me. Even without the old chimneys and cabin foundations that mark the landscape of this amazing trail in the Smokies, the hike alone in these mountainous woods would be amazing!

Come along and check out the woods, the ruins and the creek in a place that was a summer vacation to the rich and famous just 100 short years ago.
