#1. For the government [that means ‘you and me’]to guarantee student loans is a gross mishandling of funds.

#2. When students attend university, college, or trade school, there are usually loans or grants involved.

#3. With grants, it’s simply a matter of qualifying the applicant and sending them the money.

#4. With loans it gets ugly.

#5. Private lenders nationwide have loaned over a trillion dollars to people who will never get that loan anywhere else.

#6. First: Not everyone is meant to go to college.

#7. Many are forging wealthy futures who have never attended college.

#8. Likewise tens of millions of bachelor degree holders are forging careers in public works, fast food, and lawn care.

#9. Our universities charge incredible tuition and even more for ancillary fees and textbooks.

#10. The higher education industry is a giant scam sucking money from student loans.

#11. Over 47% of college students drop out before getting their degree.

#12. Our money is backing people who signed contracts willingly to get the money and now refuse to pay it back.

#13. When they default it behooves Uncle Sam to pay it back. That means it’s you and me paying it back.

#14. Why should I have to pay someone else’s tuition?

#15. There is a solution to this problem.

LET COLLEGES ASSUME
STUDENT LOAN LIABILITY

#16. It’s time these colleges put some of the hundreds of billions of dollars in their endowments into loan guarantees.

#17. They’ve suckled from the government teat long enough.

With colleges having to take on the responsibility which, ultimately, should be theirs I believe you’d see an up-tick in the quality of their curriculum and a decrease in tuitions, books, etc. You might even see a higher graduation rate!
