This change is so sinister

Labour’s plan to not pay market value to individuals whose property is seized due to a compulsory purchase order strikes at the very heart of private property rights.

It should not be for the Government, a local authority or Natural England to decide what your property is worth.

CPOs are controversial at the best of times, but the least we can do is make sure that when CPOs are used, market value of land is paid - not have aspects of the land value disregarded.

For anyone who owns property, including our farmers, this measure is yet another vindictive blow, as they risk losing out.

If the State acquires your property against your will - market value should be paid - nothing less.

I will be campaigning hard to stop the Government taking what it pleases without paying up.
