The FAA says it’ll bring on 2,000 new air traffic controller trainees this year to address a critical shortage that’s been delaying flights and burning out staff with six-day weeks.

FAA ADMINISTRATOR: TIME TO RETHINK CONGESTION SAFETY

Acting FAA Administrator Chris Rocheleau:
“Initial conclusions regarding the DC mid-air collision — there are more than a few people who are saying, look, what lessons can we learn from there, aside from banning helicopter flights at Reagan National, and how can we apply that to other congested areas, other airports, and segments where there are real congestion concerns?”
