Biography - Rare of Breed

Born and raised in North Carolina, Rare of Breed’s journey has taken him from the streets of Charlotte touring almost every state in the U.S. Placed in foster care at age 8, he discovered a love for writing when a therapist gave him a notebook to process his emotions. What began as poetry eventually evolved into lyrics and songs. As a teen, his life took a difficult turn after being expelled from high school for selling drugs, leading to military school, where he earned his GED. However, bad decisions soon landed him on the streets and in jail at just 18. Struggling with addiction and self-worth, Rare of Breed finally found hope when he walked into a church, fell to his knees, and gave his life to Christ. This pivotal moment gave new purpose to the lyrics he’d started writing years before. For the past decade, he’s shared his testimony through his unique musical style, which he calls GodTwang on stages at churches, music halls, festivals, and prisons throughout the U.S. Blending Country, Christian, and Hip-Hop, Rare of Breed delivers an uplifting and one-of-a-kind sound that inspires listeners from all walks of life.
