Jesus Christ, the eternal Word, shares the same divine essence as God the Father. His voluntary submission to the Father during His earthly ministry does not diminish His deity. This functional subordination highlights the distinct roles within the Trinity while affirming their unity in nature. ​

In John 1:1, the Apostle unequivocally declares the divinity of the Word: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." This passage affirms that Jesus is not a created being but has eternally existed as God. ​

Furthermore, when Jesus refers to the Father as "my God" in John 20:17, it reflects His genuine human experience and His role as the Mediator between God and humanity. This expression does not negate His divine nature but emphasizes His identification with mankind to fulfill the work of salvation. ​

Jesus' citation of Psalm 82:6, "I said, 'You are gods,'" serves to contrast the metaphorical use of "gods" for Israelite judges with His own unique and true divinity. Unlike these judges, who were mere mortals, Jesus is the eternal Son of God, possessing the fullness of deity. ​
