Podcast The X-Files 1993 Season 1 Episode 3 Squeeze | Breakdown #podcast #ytshorts #aliens #ufo
Hey, X-Philes! Welcome back to Just Natz, the podcast where we dive into the weird, the unexplained, and the downright terrifying world of The X-Files. Today, we’re tackling Season 1, Episode 3—Squeeze. This is the episode that introduces us to one of the most iconic monsters in the series: Eugene Victor Tooms. If you’ve got a fear of tight spaces or air vents, this one’s gonna mess with you. Let’s get into it!"
[SEGMENT 1: THE OPENING SCENE]
"Alright, so the episode starts with a businessman named George Usher arriving at his office building in Baltimore. But he’s being watched—from a storm drain. Yeah, you heard that right. Someone’s lurking in the shadows, and it’s not long before this creepy figure infiltrates the building by climbing through the elevator shaft and ventilation system. Usher is killed, and his liver is removed—with bare hands. This is our first taste of Eugene Victor Tooms, and let me tell you, this guy is nightmare fuel. The way he moves, the way he kills—it’s all so unsettling. And just like that, we’re hooked."
[SEGMENT 2: THE CASE UNFOLDS]
"Enter FBI agents Mulder and Scully. The case is assigned to careerist agent Tom Colton, who’s baffled by the lack of entry points at the crime scenes and the bizarre method of killing. He turns to Scully for help, and Mulder, of course, jumps right in. Mulder notices something strange—an elongated fingerprint on an air vent. He connects this to similar murders from 1933 and 1963, suggesting that the killer has been active for decades. Mulder predicts that there will be two more murders, based on the pattern from the earlier sprees."
"This is where Mulder’s brilliance really shines. He’s already piecing together the bigger picture, while Scully’s more focused on the immediate evidence. It’s a great dynamic—Mulder’s the believer, Scully’s the skeptic, but they both bring something crucial to the table."
[SEGMENT 3: MEET EUGENE VICTOR TOOMS]
"Mulder and Scully stake out the parking garage of the office building, and sure enough, they catch Tooms climbing through the air vents. This guy is like something out of a horror movie—he’s pale, wiry, and has this unsettling calmness about him. They bring him in for questioning, and Mulder administers a polygraph test with questions linking Tooms to murders dating back to 1903. Tooms passes most of the test, but he fails Mulder’s questions about the historical murders. Colton dismisses Mulder’s theory and lets Tooms go, but Mulder’s not giving up that easily."
"Mulder digitally alters Tooms’ fingerprints, showing that they match the elongated prints found at the crime scenes. He theorizes that Tooms is a mutant who can stretch and squeeze his body through narrow spaces. And that night, Tooms proves Mulder right by squeezing down a chimney to claim another victim. This scene is so creepy—it’s like something out of a nightmare."
[SEGMENT 4: THE NEST]
"Mulder and Scully dig deeper into Tooms’ past and find… nothing. No documentation, no records—it’s like he doesn’t exist. They visit retired detective Frank Briggs, who investigated the 1933 murders, and he shows them old photos of Tooms—who hasn’t aged a day in sixty years. Briggs gives them the address of Tooms’ former apartment building, and that’s where things get really disturbing."
"They find a ‘nest’ in the building’s crawl space—a disgusting pile of newspaper and bile, along with trophies from past victims. Mulder theorizes that Tooms is a mutant who hibernates for thirty years at a time after consuming five human livers. And just when you think it can’t get any creepier, Tooms steals Scully’s necklace as a new trophy while hiding in the rafters. This guy is relentless."
[SEGMENT 5: THE FINAL CONFRONTATION]
"Mulder and Scully put Tooms’ apartment under surveillance, but Colton shuts them down. Mulder finds Scully’s necklace in the apartment and tries to warn her, but Tooms has already cut her phone line. In one of the most tense scenes of the episode, Tooms breaks into Scully’s apartment through a tiny air vent. The way he moves—like some kind of human snake—is absolutely terrifying. But Mulder arrives just in time to save Scully and apprehend Tooms."
"Tooms is institutionalized, and the episode ends with him building another nest out of newspaper. Scully informs Mulder that medical tests show Tooms has an abnormal skeletal and muscle system, and a rapidly declining metabolism. But the final shot—of Tooms staring at the thin slot in his door and grinning—is pure nightmare fuel. This guy isn’t done, and we know he’ll be back."
