The Mysterious Island (1929)

An American sound part-talkie sci-fi film directed by Lucien Hubbard loosely based on the back-story given for Captain Nemo.

Inhabitants of a volcanic island are invaded, and escape in a submarine. They are pursued by a second submarine, and both encounter a bizarre realm inhabited by dragons, a giant octopus, and a mysterious humanoid race at the ocean floor.
