B-24H Radio Operator liberated from the wreckage of his crashed bomber in Italy on April 3rd 1944

745th Bomb Squadron 456th Bomb Group Consolidated B-24H Liberator 41-29312 "Raunchy But Right" was returning from a mission to bomb Budapest in Hungary on April 3rd 1944. With three engines out and at low altitude, the bomber could no longer maintain height and pilot Roy A. Lassiter was forced to make a crash landing at Orta Nova in Italy. The entire crew of ten survived although some men were injured. One of them was Radio Operator Clayton T. Mcneill who had to be cut from the wreckage after he was trapped during the incident.
