In the last federal election, there was a seismic shift. The Teals, who present as independents, but are heavily centrally financially backed by Simon Holmes a Court and Byron Fay’s Climate 200 fundraising entity, won FIVE seats in Sydney (that’s only two fewer than the Liberal Party), two in Melbourne and one in Perth. Meanwhile the Greens won one in Melbourne and three in Brisbane. Most of these seats were won from the Liberal Party. Can they ever get them back? And should they even bother trying?
