The United States federal government is now routinely arresting legal residents without charging them with a crime; here's a few of their stories. This episode focused quite a lot on the stories of the people abducted in some recent ICE raids, but there has been a lot of news in the space of immigration enforcement under the current admin. Things are moving so quickly and chaotically that I chose to focus in on one part of it. At time of writing, we've also seen Trump enact a law from the 1700's which claims we're "at war" with a South American gang, and is using it to deport migrants to a foreign prison known specifically for its brutal conditions. A judge has blocked this, but it happened anyway, so we're in wholly uncharted territory.
