Burn: New Beginnings (part 17)

*In the midst of the battle, with so many dying at the hands of Varso, Sumnaz, Dannawthen, and Mr. Bollus, Burn is mainly concerned with Gabriella and Reign. He does his best to usher as many as he can further into the light, getting them to safety around the last corner needed so they can enter into a safety where none of the Original Corners of Midnight can follow, but for Gabriella and Reign he just tells them to run. Screaming for them to head far from the light, far from where Varso and Sumnaz are doing the most damage to the group he swore to protect and lead, Burn heads off to fight as Gabriella and Reign does as he asks. They run back down the mountain path as Burn fires upon Varso and actually succeeds in inflicting major damage. Yes, that awful monster snake can heal, but that takes a while and Burn just keeps on firing. He causes Varso to flee, hurt and bleeding, which opens up a wide path for more of his people to run into the light. But then Dannawthen shows up, scooping Burn into the air and hauling him far into the heavens. It is a height that is lethal, but Burn cares not. Sure, his rifle is gone, he is unarmed, yet still he fights, punching and kicking until Dannawthen releases him. This may have been Dannawthens plan all along, but, again, Burn does not care. He is free, and as he plummets to a certain death all he can hope is that Gabriella and Reign have made it to freedom as well. He doesn't know that Traul has already found Gabriella, that he and a horde of Devoted have her surrounded, have already taken Reign, and everything is doomed [AI Art]*
