Mass Reading Reflection for Tuesday, March 25, 2025 – Annunciation

Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, which supersedes the usual Tuesday of the Third Week of Lent readings. The Catholic Mass readings for this solemnity (Year B cycle still applies for the season) are Isaiah 7:10-14; 8:10 (first reading), Psalm 40:7-11, Hebrews 10:4-10 (second reading), and Luke 1:26-38 (Gospel)

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel heralds Thy coming—Gabriel greets Mary, ‘The Lord is with you.’ Bishop Sheen exulted, ‘Her yes turned the world’s no to glory!’ Isaiah foretells, ‘A virgin shall bear a son,’ and Thou, O Lord, art Emmanuel, God-with-us. St. Charbel, who pondered Thy Mother’s fiat, bids you echo her surrender today. Hebrews sings of Thy sacrifice, O Lord—Thy body, born of her, redeems what bulls cannot. This Lent, stand with Mary and say, ‘Be it done unto me’—Thy will, not yours, reigns. Let your soul magnify Him, for the Word became flesh through her humble heart.”
