Cruel prison experiment by communists - Pitesti phenomenon

"The Pitești Phenomenon" represented an experiment of reeducation that involved the psychological destruction of individuals. This "operation" began in 1949, at the Pitești prison. The Secret Police (Securitatea) devised a plan to eliminate the moral resistance of political prisoners, following the model of Anton Makarenko. The experiment ceased in the year 1952.
