The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings - Part Seven
Triss was in danger, and time was running out. The kingslayer, Letho, had taken her and forced her to open a portal to Aedirn. We raced back to Flotsam, but the town had already descended into chaos. Iorveth’s victory brought vengeance on its people, and in turn, nonhumans were slaughtered in a brutal pogrom. Fire and blood filled the streets as we fought our way to the inn, knowing only we understood the true reason behind the violence: Triss.
SÃle’s room looked like a battlefield. Our instincts told us a fight had taken place, and we were right. Clues led us to a peeping hole in the wall shared with a brothel, and from there, to the one man who might’ve seen it all: Cedric. Wounded and fleeing, Cedric had tried to protect Triss, but Letho overpowered them both. With a Cat potion, we followed the trail of blood through the night, but found the elf too late. In his final moments, he revealed the truth: Letho and Triss were gone, through a portal to Vergen.
With the world spinning out of control, Temeria was consumed by violence and power struggles, and Aedirn wasn’t far behind. After King Demavend’s death, contenders like Prince Stennis and the revolutionary Saskia the Dragonslayer vied for control, each with their own vision for the land.
Arriving in Vergen, we met Elder Cecil Burdon, who offered a place to rest before a major war council convened. Plans to repel King Henselt’s invasion were debated with passion, and little progress. Our role was clear: lift the battlefield curse with Philippa Eilhart’s aid and end the deadly mist dividing the armies.
But before we could act, tragedy struck. Saskia was poisoned. As she hovered near death, the urgency grew. Now, not only must we break the curse, but also hunt for a cure to save the one leader capable of uniting Aedirn.
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (Polish: Wiedźmin 2: Zabójcy Królów) is a 2011 action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red, based on Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy novels. As a sequel to the 2007 game The Witcher, it continues the saga of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a Witcher. Released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, OS X, and Linux, the game immerses players in a richly detailed world inspired by Polish history and Slavic mythology. By September 2014, it had sold over 8 million copies, cementing its status as both a critical and commercial success. The series' acclaim continued with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in May 2015.
