Exercise prevents sarcopenia, a deficiency in muscle mass. When muscles are not used, they atrophy. Sarcopenia is associated with functional disability, increased chronic inflammation, poorer glucose control, increased diabetes, increased insulin resistance, increased osteoporosis, and, ultimately, a lower quality of life. Physical exercise combined with adequate nutrition, sustained protein and vitamin D, is the most recommended way to prevent and reverse sarcopenia. Let's prepare our bodies from an early age to avoid premature aging.
