Pro Tips for precutting a sheet cake for your customer to make sure they get all 48 servings out of their 1/2 sheet cake.

1. Leave off the border frosting. It complicates the cutting process. Smooth your base coat on the top and all 4 sides then pop it in the fridge for 10 minutes to chill before slicing
2. Dampen a washcloth with warm water. Use it to wipe your knife completely clean after each cut.
3. To keep the slices even start in the middle of the cake and work your way out on each side, mirroring the slices made on the other side.
4. Cut 7 slices vertically (1 in the center and 3 on either side of the center cut)
5. Cut 5 slices horizontally (1 in the center and 2 evenly spaced slices on each side of the center cut
6. Pipe a small and simple decoration on each piece to zhuzh it up.
7. Return the cake to the fridge to chill before the customer arrives to pick it up.
8. Serving tip: place a plastic fork (tines down) into each piece of cake for ease of serving

You may choose to charge your customer a little extra to provide this service for them. But it will ensure they have the proper amount of servings for their event. And they don’t have to worry about having any cutting utensils on hand.

There are so many simple ways to decorate each piece - from coordinating colors with their decor to florals or even a simple design that helps communicate what the flavor of the cake is (ie carrots for carrot cake)

Hope this helps! Happy decorating my sweets 😘
