Mass Reading Reflection for Sunday, March 23, 2025
the Third Sunday of Lent (Year B)—and the Catholic Mass readings are Exodus 3:1-8a, 13-15 (first reading), Psalm 103:1-4, 6-8, 11, 1 Corinthians 10:1-6, 10-12 (second reading), and Luke 13:1-9 (Gospel)

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel finds Thee piercing our excuses—repent, or perish, Thou dost warn. Bishop Sheen thundered, ‘God’s patience is a plow, not a pillow!’ From Exodus, Moses meets Thee, O Lord, in the bush aflame—Thy name is mercy, yet justice too. St. Charbel bids you tend your barren fig tree today—bear fruit, not leaves. Paul recalls the ancients’ fall, a mirror to your wandering heart—idols crumble before Thee. This Sunday, hear Thy call, O Lord—turn from sin, for Thou art slow to anger but swift to save. Cleanse your soul’s temple, and let His grace make you bloom anew.”
