An accusation of corruption is enough to call for an early election. In fact, it will be the third election in three years in Portugal. President Luís Montenegro is being accused of benefiting his family's companies from power. However, in the neighboring country, Spain, there is a similar case, but with no legal or political consequences. Spain's First Lady, Begoña, Pedro Sánchez's wife, is being accused of benefiting several companies with public funds, including an airline. There are also records of her signatures authorizing benefits to institutions from power. What we also see in this case is the difference when a conservative is accused, like Montenegro, and when the left is accused, and how the media reacts as well. In fact, there was tension between Milei and Sánchez because he highlighted this case.
