Tren de Aragua takedown: ICE arrests 68 gang members in 48 hours in a massive nationwide operation under the directive of President Donald Trump. Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons made the announcement, confirming that a total of 394 members of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TDA) have been arrested to date. Lyons credited the arrests to enhanced coordination between ICE, local law enforcement, and federal agencies, empowered by Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act on March 15, 2025. The law, dating back to 1798, allows for the expedited deportation of non-citizens from hostile nations during national emergencies. TDA, designated as a foreign terrorist organization, is notorious for kidnapping, extortion, drug trafficking, and human smuggling across Latin America and now U.S. cities.
