The Best Example 03 - The Merciful Messenger ﷺ

The greatest mercy that humanity has received from its Lord is the risaalah (message) of the Prophet of Mercy and Guidance, Muhammad ﷺ.
Allah ﷻ said, “And We have not sent you but as a mercy to all of humanity.”
It is a mercy with his Ummah. He ﷺ said, "O Allah, my Ummah, my Ummah."

It is that mercy about which his servant Anas Ibn Malik (ra) said, “I have not seen anyone more merciful to children than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”

It is those tears that flowed on the cheeks of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when his son Ibrahim died, saying to Abdul Rahman (ra), “O son of Awf, the tears are a mercy.”

Then he followed his tears by saying, “Indeed, the eye weeps, and indeed, the heart grieves. And we say nothing but that which pleases our Lord. And indeed, for your parting, O Ibraham, we are grieved.”

It is his acceptance of the children, their compassion, their playfulness, and his caressing on their heads, saying, “Who does not grant mercy, is not to receive mercy.”

It is the breaking of his ﷺ heart over the orphans, the widows, and the needy, saying, “I and the caretaker of the orphan are like these two in Paradise.”

It is his inheritance to his Ummah. It is his saying, “Be good in your dealings with women.” It is his ﷺ answer to Jibraeel (as) when he was offered the destruction of the people who harmed him ﷺ, saying, in mercy, compassion, kindness, “Instead, I hope that Allah will bring out from among them those who worship Allah alone and have no partner.”

It is the mercy that is not limited.

In short, it is the great mercy of Islam, for which Allah ﷻ has sent down the Messenger ﷺ as a mercy to all of humanity.

Yes, you have the best example in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

إِنَّ أَعْظَمَ رَحْمَةٍ حَظْيَتْ بِهَا الْبَشَرِيَّةُ مِنْ رَبِّهَا هِيَ إِرْسَالُ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ وَالْهُدَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمُ قَالَ تَعَالَى (وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ) هي رحمةٌ مع أمته، اللَّهُمَّ أُمَّتِي أُمَّتِي،
هي تلك الرحمة التي قال عنها خادمه أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه ما رأيت أحداً أرحم بالعيال من رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم هي تلك الدمعات التي سالت على خدي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عند وفاة ابنه إبراهيم قائلاً لعبد الرحمن (يا ابنَ عَوفٍ، إنَّها رحمةٌ) ثم أتبع دمعاته تلك بأخرى قائلاً (تدمَعُ العينُ ويحزَنُ القلبُ، ولا نقولُ إلَّا ما يرضي ربَّنا، إنَّا بِكَ يا إبراهيمُ لمَحزونونَ) هي تقبيله للأطفال ومواساتهم وملاعبتهم ومسحه على رؤوسهم قائلاً (مَن لا يَرحَمْ، لا يُرحَمْ) هي انكسار قلبه على اليتام والأرامل والمساكين قائلاً (أنا وَكافلُ اليتيمِ في الجنَّةِ كهاتينِ) هي وصيته لأمته (استوصوا بالنساء خيرا) هي جوابه لجبريل عندما عرض عليه إهلاك قومه الذين آذوه قائلاً في رحمة ورأفة وشفقة (بل أرجو أن يُخْرِجَ اللَّهُ مِن أصلابِهِم مَن يعبدُ اللَّهَ ، لا يشرِكُ بِهِ شيئًا) هي الرحمة التي لا تحد هي باختصار رحمة الإسلام العظيم الذي أنزله الله رحمة للعالمين نعم لقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة
