NT Framework 79 Baptism - Part 2

SBC Family,

Tomorrow we are going to continue with the doctrine of the works of the Holy Spirit, and in particular, baptism. There are many baptisms. There were a couple of questions asked last week, so we will work with those questions first. You can always turn in questions. One of those questions has to do with whether there are 7 or 8 baptisms in the Bible. The main text there will be 1 Peter 3:20-21 and the reference to Noah's baptism. I've been re-thinking this one, again. The other one has to do with what Jesus meant in John 3:5 when he said one must be "born of water and the Spirit" to see the kingdom of God.

Afterward we will get into the Spirit baptism proper and deal with this doctrine in some detail. Many think this is the most difficult of the works of the Spirit for people to understand, so I will try to break it down and make it simple. Of course, one of the things to note that is often not noted is that it is only for the church. It is not for Israel in the OT or for future Tribulation or Millennial saints. Only the church is baptized by the Spirit. This has tremendous significance for the uniqueness of the church. I've attached a handout.

Love and prayers,
Jeremy
