At its core, judgment is a survival instinct. It helps us categorize the world quickly. But in modern society, it’s less about survival and more about comparison, control, and insecurity.
We judge because:
✔ We’ve been conditioned to: society teaches us certain standards, and when people don’t fit, we react.
✔ We project our insecurities. Sometimes, what bothers us about others is what we struggle with ourselves.
✔ We fear the unknown. Different cultures, lifestyles, and choices make people uncomfortable, leading to quick assumptions.
✔ It gives us a false sense of power. Judging others can make us feel better about ourselves, even if it’s temporary.
Sounds familiar? It’s because we’ve all been there.
The problem with judgment? It separates us.
⚠ It creates division. Instead of learning from each other, we build walls.
⚠ It stifles growth. If we’re always criticizing, we stop understanding.
⚠ It fuels insecurity. When you judge others, you’re also more likely to judge yourself.
⚠ It limits authenticity. People hide who they really are to avoid judgment.
And let’s be real—self-judgment is just as brutal.
You know that voice in your head? The one that says:
"You’re not good enough. You’re failing. You should be doing more."
That’s self-judgment. And it’s often worse than what others say about us.
