The Proud and Profane (1956)

Directed by George Seaton, starring William Holden and Deborah Kerr. Set during World War II, the film follows Lee Ashley (Kerr), a Red Cross worker who travels to a Pacific island to honor her late husband, a fallen Marine. There, she becomes involved with the cynical and battle-hardened Major Black (Holden), leading to a complex romance marked by grief, duty, and redemption.
