CALAVERAS COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS 6/14/2022: DR RENE RAMIREZ CONTRACT QUESTIONED!

This is crazy! So on 6/14/22, one year after the initial hiring of Dr Rene Ramirez as Public Health Officer for Calaveras County, his one year new contract was on the agenda. Interesting no mention of why the salary seemed to decrease from $194k to $166k.

BUT, two Supervisors pulled the contract out of consent to discuss. Apparently they have had major problems with Dr. Ramirez. His tone, his less than positive interactions with the community and lack of returned phone calls to important people!

WOW. Now I am intrigued. WHY IS HE STILL EMPLOYED AND UP FOR ANOTHER EXTENSION THROUGH 2026?

AGENDA ITEM 8:

Resolution - Public Health Services (ID # 6725) 1) Authorize the Board Chair to sign an Agreement with René Ramirez, M.D., to serve as the Calaveras County Health Officer for the period of July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 for the not-to-exceed amount of $166,400.04 and;
2) Adopt a Resolution appointing René Ramirez, M.D., as the Calaveras County Health Officer,
effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, in line with the aforementioned Agreement and; 3) Authorize the Director of Health and Human Services to enter into amendments to the Agreement, so long as it does not modify the not-to-exceed value of the Agreement.
