The moment British Mercenary James Scott Rees Anderson was captured by Russian forces in the Kursk region. He has been sentenced to 19 years in prison.
It's not clear why he claimed to be American. Perhaps, he thought an American prisoner would hold more value and be less likely to be killed on the spot?
