Mass Reading Reflection for Thursday, March 20, 2025
Second Week of Lent (Year B) is Luke 16:19-31 with the first reading from Jeremiah 17:5-10 and Psalm 1:1-4, 6.

“O Jesus, today’s Gospel unveils the rich man and Lazarus—one feasts, one begs, yet death turns the table. Bishop Sheen warned, ‘Wealth blinds where poverty sees.’ Jeremiah cries, ‘Cursed is he who trusts in man,’ for Thou, O Lord, alone art the heart’s true root. St. Charbel, poor in all but Thee, bids you share your crumbs with a Lazarus today. The rich man pleads from flames, but Abraham saith, ‘They have Moses’—your ears must hear the Word now. This Lent, look beyond your gate, for Thou, O Lord, judgest the unseen alms. Give one gift from your plenty, and find His riches in the beggar’s eyes.”
