The Department of Education, as we knew it, has come to an end. Reports this week suggested that the Trump administration would abolish the department entirely. The official announcement didn’t go quite that far but came very close. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt detailed the changes, noting that the department will now be much smaller and will only retain its most basic functions.
