Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin meaning the assembly really it means those sitting together. This group was considered by the Jewish community to be the ruling class for all religious matters. They were the learned ones, supposedly. To be fair they were well educated in the TORAH and the Tanach.
One night after sunset, he crept through the streets with his hood over his head to go and talk to Yeshua. I don’t know if that is the case but it could be. The fact that we are told he went during the night is also telling us that Nicodemus was in the dark when it came to Yeshua. HE was saying that he was in the dark regarding true spiritual matters.
“Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of GOD unless they are born again.”
But Yeshua insists that no-one can ‘see’ truly perceive the Kingdom of GOD unless they are born again from above. Not another earthly birth but a new Heavenly spiritual birth. The prophets also foresaw the coming of a kingdom at the end of history, presided over by a son of David (ISA 9; 11; ZECH 9, by the LORD’S servant (ISA 42; 49), by the LORD HIMself (ISA 9; 33; ZECH 14:9).
These pots were never to contain anything but water, now they would contain wine, thus they were no longer available to be used for purification.
1PET 1:22-23, For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of GOD.JAM 1:18, HE chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all HE created.
TIT 3:5-7, He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom HE poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by HIS grace, we might become heirs having the hope (confidence) of eternal life.
2COR 5:17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! GAL 6:15, Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.
