Netanyahu 'clinging to power by his fingernails' in Israel

We can now get the thoughts of our panel on the situation in Gaza and reaction to the comments we've just heard from Israel's UK ambassador, Tzipi Hotovely.

Emily Thornberry says Hotovely was "failing to acknowledge" that the ceasefire deal has been "ready to go" since last summer when Joe Biden was still US president.

"There were grave doubts as to why it had taken so long to be implemented," she adds.

One reason for the delay between the first two phases of the ceasefire, Thornberry suggests, is because Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "clinging onto power by his fingernails".

"He has to pass a budget at the end of March, and he has to pass that budget in order to continue the government he's in charge of," she says.

"If he isn't in charge of the government in Israel, he personally gets into a great deal of trouble. There are court cases swirling around him. There are inquiries and everything else.
