Corn Seed Viability in Years - Germinating Some Popcorn.

The viability of corn seeds depends on how they are stored. Under ideal conditions—cool, dry, and airtight storage—corn seeds can remain viable for 5 to 10 years. However, the germination rate tends to decrease over time, especially after the first few years.
If seeds are stored in less-than-ideal conditions (e.g., high humidity or temperature), their viability may drop significantly within just 1 to 2 years. To maximize longevity, store the seeds in a sealed container, such as a jar, with a desiccant in a cool, dry place like a refrigerator.
